Are the pads I use… toxic? 😭

I never thought to look at what’s actually in my pads until recently — and now I can’t unsee it. Some brands have synthetic fragrances, plastics, and even chlorine-bleached materials 😭

We talk so much about skincare ingredients, but not about what’s touching one of the most sensitive parts of our body for hours every month. Like… why isn’t this a bigger convo?

It honestly made me rethink the products I’ve used for years. I’m not saying everyone has to switch — but it’s wild how little transparency there is.

Have you ever checked the ingredients on your pads before or switched brands after finding something weird? 👇

... Read moreMany people rarely consider the ingredients in their feminine hygiene products, especially pads that come in contact with such sensitive areas for extended hours each month. However, increasing awareness around what these pads contain is prompting more of us to check labels carefully. Common concerning ingredients include synthetic fragrances, various plastics, and chlorine-bleached materials. For example, chlorine bleaching can lead to the presence of dioxins, which are toxic compounds linked to health risks. Many brands do not disclose full ingredient details, making it difficult for consumers to make informed decisions. Choosing pads that are free from dyes, fragrances, and elemental chlorine can be better for skin health and reduce irritation risks. Some products are marked with dermatological approval seals and advertise the absence of harsh chemicals, making them safer options. Materials like cellulose and treated heavy paper are common components, and although these may sound natural, treatment processes can add chemicals to the final product. It's also important to consider environmental impact since plastics in pads contribute to non-biodegradable waste. Alternatives such as organic cotton pads or reusable menstrual products offer both health and ecological benefits for those concerned with toxins and sustainability. Ultimately, paying attention to what ingredients come into contact with your body and advocating for transparency from manufacturers helps protect your health and promotes wider conversation on feminine hygiene wellness. Have you ever switched brands after discovering harmful ingredients on a product? Sharing experiences can empower others to make safer choices too.
