My doctor said this about pads 👀

I was shocked when my OBGYN suggested I stop using certain pads or period panties — some can irritate your skin or even mess with your natural pH.

It made me realize how little we talk about the health side of feminine care products. We focus on comfort and convenience, but rarely discuss what’s actually best for our bodies.

I’m curious — has your doctor ever suggested switching period products for health reasons, or have you ever had a brand irritate you? 👇

(Always check with your healthcare provider before changing products — this is just my personal experience and suggestion from a professional!)

2025/11/6 Edited to

... Read moreMany people rarely consider the health implications behind choosing feminine hygiene products. According to some healthcare professionals, certain pads or period panties can cause irritation or even disrupt the natural pH levels of sensitive areas. This is critical because maintaining a balanced pH is essential for preventing infections and discomfort. The image text highlights sensitivity issues, noting how some products may disrupt your body's natural pH—something many of us have never thought about before. For example, pads that contain fragrances, dyes, or harsh chemicals can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions, leading to redness, itching, or discomfort. Similarly, period panties made from non-breathable materials might trap moisture and heat, upsetting the delicate balance of the vaginal environment. Choosing the right products means looking for hypoallergenic materials, breathable fabrics, and avoiding unnecessary additives. Cotton pads or organic options are often recommended because they’re gentler on sensitive skin and less likely to disrupt the microbiome. If you experience persistent irritation or discomfort, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider who can suggest alternative products that support skin health and maintain your natural pH. Additionally, regular hygiene habits and changing products frequently during your period can help minimize irritation risks. Ultimately, while comfort and convenience are important, prioritizing the health side of feminine care products is key. Being informed helps you make better choices that support your body’s natural balance—something that’s not often openly discussed but deserves more attention in everyday conversations. Remember to always check with a healthcare professional before switching your feminine care products, especially if you have sensitive skin or underlying health conditions.

I guess I can understand the pads, but the period panties? I guess I’m gonna have to do more research.
