Filipino Christmas Party

I recently had the absolute joy of attending my very first Filipino Christmas Party, and let me tell you, it was unlike any other holiday celebration I've ever been to. There was a whole roasted lechon, glistening and crispy, which was definitely the star of the show. Alongside it, I feasted on delicious pancit (noodles for long life!), crispy lumpia, savory spaghetti (Filipino style, with hot dogs!), and a mountain of other dishes. For dessert, the fruit salad was a refreshing treat, and I got to try various kakanin like bibingka and puto bumbong – absolutely divine! Every dish was a labor of love, prepared to share with family and friends. Beyond the incredible feast, the party was filled with so much interaction. Karaoke was, of course, a highlight! Everyone, regardless of singing ability, took a turn belting out their favorite tunes. There were also classic parlor games that brought out so much laughter and friendly competition, making everyone feel like a kid again. And the gift-giving tradition, often called Monito Monita, was so heartwarming, seeing everyone exchange thoughtful presents. It's not just about the gifts themselves, but the joy of giving and receiving within such a loving community.
