We have a Nitori dog-shaped body pillow that our eldest daughter has cherished for about 7 years.
Since it is a type without a cover, it has only been washed once so far.
Recently, my eldest daughter finally started saying "something smells..."
Sometimes I was pretty tired, and when I said "It's about time to dispose," my eldest daughter suggested.
"I want to pull out the cotton, wash the outside, and replace it with new cotton."
To be honest, I thought it was troublesome, but I'll do it myself!
In response to that enthusiasm, I decided to leave everything except laundry to my eldest daughter.
I used 5 packs of cotton from Daiso.

Even with the same 100 yen product, there are also scenes where parents and children realize that the contents are slightly less than the ones they had at home, and they realize the price increase.
Thanks to the eldest daughter who painstakingly sewed one stitch, the tired dog revives beautifully softly! ✨
"I can still use it" "I could fix it myself" Looking at the face of such a satisfied eldest daughter, I reflected a little on myself who thought about "disposal" easily.
It is important to let go efficiently, but I felt that I wanted to cherish the richness of continuing to use it with my hands.
私も実際に長年愛用している抱き枕が同じように汚れてくたびれてしまった経験があります。カバーなしタイプだと洗濯の手間や中綿の劣化も気になって、つい買い替えを考えがちですが、今回のように自分で手をかけ てメンテナンスするのも意外と楽しくておすすめです。 作業はまず中綿を抜く作業から始めましたが、ファスナーや縫い目の無い抱き枕は慎重さが必要です。そこで私もネットで調べながら、小さなハサミで少しずつ綿を抜き出し、破れないように注意しました。外側の生地はお湯ではなくぬるま湯に中性洗剤で優しく手洗いするのがポイント。干す時は形を整えながら陰干しすることで変形を防げます。 中綿はダイソーなどの手軽な綿で十分ふんわり復活しますが、私の場合は綿が足りず途中で追加購入しました。詰め方も重要で、均一に詰めてから丁寧に一針ずつ縫い直すことで見た目も触り心地も新品のように生き返りました。子どもと共同作業にすることで愛着も増し、「まだまだ使える」という喜びを味わえたのも良かったです。 この体験から、物を大切にすることの価値を改めて実感。特に抱き枕のような長く寄り添うアイテムは、思い入れも強いので処分より修理を検討するのも暮らしを豊かにします。忙しくて面倒に感じるかもしれませんが、ひと手間かけて蘇らせることでエコにも繋がり、家族のコミュニケーションにもなりました。ぜひ同じように長年使っている抱き枕やクッションを見直してみてはいかがでしょうか。
