Have you ever been harassed at the gym?

I’m a regular at my local gym, you get used to seeing the same faces: a few girls I chat with, and some guys who keep to themselves, just nodding or smiling. One guy, late thirties maybe, always looks super serious, never smiles, just focused.

Yesterday, I was in the open weights area when a random 50 something guy wandered in. Through the mirror, I saw him staring at my butt forever. He walked over, asked what I was working on (leg day), then started mansplaining my workout, staring deep into my eyes, giving off major creeper vibes. He made weird flirty comments about my glutes and I realized I was cornered. No physical threat, but suffocating, anxious, just me and this guy twice my age.

Then “Grumpy Guy” walked in, grabbed weights and noticed. He locked eyes with me in the mirror, nodded like “you good?” I widened my eyes, and he immediately said to the creep: “Hey man, give her some space. This room’s huge, you’re crowding her.” The creep flustered, mumbled “just talking,” and bolted. I thanked him, and he said: “No worries. I have a daughter around your age. I get it. Got your back.” Ladies, you know that uneasy feeling so relieved to feel safe. Have you ever had a stranger step up for you like this?
