Just wanted a simple walk… but wah 😅
Yesterday was supposed to be simple…
Just a morning walk.
A much needed breather after a heavy week.
But the day started with a little “adventure”…
TEL breakdown 😅
Boarded the 6:55am train, thinking I would reach early to surprise Janice.
Then announcement came…
train was further delayed.
Ok… never mind. Still cool abt it.
Got out of the station and tried to Grab.
No luck.
Took a bus to another station.
Tried Grab again.
Still nothing.
Thought I could take the train from there…
staff said no service until 9am.
At that moment really like… 🤦🏻♀️
Ended up walking to another exit to take the shuttle bus provided,
long ride… slowly making my way there.
By the time I reached…
it was already 9am.
Tbh… quite funny looking back.
All the detours just to get there.
This whole trip was actually meant to be a surprise 😄
Xueping was helping to “hold” them there,
coming up with all kinds of reasons…
go ARC for breakfast,
say stomachache need toilet 🤣
All just to buy time for me to arrive.
When I finally walked in…
I went straight to Janice and gave her a hug.
She got a shock and screamed a little 😆
hahaha
That moment alone…
made the whole morning worth it.
Mission accomplished! 😄
We started our planned walk,
but didn’t manage a long distance in the end,
as some routes were closed here and there…🙄
but still had a good catch up,
lunch together,
and a small early birthday celebration.
Sometimes…
things don’t go the way we plan.
But the effort to show up still matters.
And I’m thankful…
that even with all the morning “adventure”,
even when I was quite fed up at one point 😅
I still didn’t give up.
And I still have the flexibility to go,
to spend time,
to be present.
That’s something I don’t take for granted.
Ended the day visiting my mum,
then dinner after.
Tiring… but a full day.
Grateful for moments like this 💛

From my own experience, sometimes a simple plan can turn into an unexpected journey, much like this account of a morning walk fraught with delays and detours. These moments remind us how flexibility and a positive attitude can transform stressful situations into cherished memories. When public transit issues like train breakdowns or delays occur, it’s easy to get frustrated. But I’ve learned that embracing these unpredictable moments can lead to surprising encounters or stories worth telling. For instance, waiting for delayed trains or struggling with unavailable rideshare services often pushes us to explore alternative routes, including shuttle buses or walking longer distances. Though inconvenient at times, these detours offer a chance to see familiar places from a new perspective and appreciate our surroundings more deeply. Another key takeaway is the importance of the intention behind our actions. In this story, despite the disruptions, the author’s dedication to surprising a friend and making the effort to be present led to a joyous reunion. This personal connection made the tough morning worthwhile and enriched the entire day. Planning for flexibility can mentally prepare us for potential hiccups during trips. Carrying essentials like water, snacks, or even a backup plan for transportation can ease stress when unexpected changes arise. Also, staying connected with friends or helpers, as in the case where a friend held the group to buy time, can be invaluable. In today’s fast-paced world, taking time to slow down—even when plans go awry—and appreciating those meaningful interactions ultimately brings balance and gratitude. Whether it’s a surprise hug, a small celebration, or simply being present despite delays, these moments add depth to our daily lives. So, if your next outing doesn't go as planned, remember that the effort you put into showing up often matters more than the details. It’s a reminder to cherish flexibility, patience, and the relationships that make every journey special.
