How I deal with ✨anxiety✨

Disclaimer: I am not an expert and what works for me may not work for everyone. ALSO it may not be the healthiest way to go about things.

1. I let it take me over in a safe environment.

When I’m home I scream and cry and panic until I start coming to my senses

2. I obsess over the problem.

I google it maybe even make presentations or excel sheets (for financial anxiety mainly) just so I can truly understand what’s going on

3. If it’s towards another person I set up a Snapchat video/ or draft a text in the notes app and then delete it

4. I move on… sort of.

I watch a show I enjoy or hang out with my dog, I can’t entirely fix the problem but I can stop dwelling on the issue at hand for the moment

5. Realize I’m not alone.

I’ve come across a lot of videos lately with people who deal with the same issues I have — I’ve even been able to self diagnose myself or at least convinced myself that this is something I was never treated or tested for and should ask my doctor about, eventually

... Read moreAnxiety is a common yet challenging issue that many people face, and it's essential to address it with effective strategies. One crucial aspect is recognizing that emotions must be expressed. Allowing yourself to scream, cry, or feel overwhelmed in a safe space helps in releasing pent-up emotions. Additionally, a proactive approach to understanding your anxiety can be beneficial. Creating presentations or spreadsheets to dissect your fears can illuminate underlying issues, particularly regarding financial anxiety, empowering you with knowledge. Communicating about your anxiety, whether through drafting messages or recording feelings, provides a therapeutic outlet, even if those messages are ultimately deleted. Furthermore, developing healthy distractions—like binge-watching a favorite series or spending quality time with pets—serves as a temporary escape from distressing thoughts. The significance of realizing that you're not alone in this struggle cannot be overstated; connecting with videos and stories from others experiencing similar feelings fosters a sense of community and normalizes the conversation around mental health. Learning self-diagnosis through shared experiences can also motivate individuals to seek professional help. Engaging with these methodologies not only enriches your understanding of anxiety but also enhances your overall coping mechanisms.

I found that especially when I’m out in a social setting and my anxiety is getting the best of me that these tips have worked for me. A big one I do when I feel my heart racing and I’m out around other people, I will do breathing techniques. Where I take a deep breath in and let it out slowly.
