Haven’t used a sniper in a minute.
Hey everyone! So, I just dusted off my sniper rifle in COD after a bit of a break, and man, it felt good to land those shots again. It got me thinking about how tough it can be when you’re first starting out with sniping in FPS games. If you're a new sniper player looking to improve, you're in the right place! I wanted to share my personal take on the best game modes to really hone your skills and start racking up those sweet eliminations. First off, don't get discouraged if you're not hitting every shot right away. Sniping has a steep learning curve, but it's incredibly rewarding once you get the hang of it. It's not just about raw aim; it's about positioning, map awareness, and sometimes, even predicting enemy movements. So, where should you go to practice? My absolute go-to for pure combat practice is Team Deathmatch (TDM). It's chaotic, fast-paced, and you're constantly in engagements. This is perfect for practicing your quick-scopes, improving your flick shots, and getting comfortable with different sightlines. You'll get tons of opportunities for those satisfying +100 Elimination pop-ups, which really boost your confidence. Don't worry about your K/D ratio too much here; focus on getting as many sniper kills as possible. Next up, if you want to learn objective play while sniping, Hardpoint is phenomenal. In Hardpoint, enemies are forced to converge on specific locations, which creates predictable lanes and choke points. This is where you can learn to hold power positions, anticipate rushes, and protect your team's objective. I've had some of my best defensive sniper games on Hardpoint, racking up +50 Hardpoint Owned notifications while picking off enemies trying to push. It teaches you to be strategic with your shots. Similarly, Domination and Control modes offer great opportunities. While they might be a bit slower than Hardpoint, the clear objectives mean you can set up power positions to cover flags or capture points. This helps you understand how to control lanes and deny areas with your sniper. For an intense, 'sink or swim' experience, try Free-for-All (FFA). This mode throws you into a lobby where everyone is your enemy. It forces you to constantly be aware of your surroundings, check your corners, and react quickly to threats from all directions. It's a high-pressure environment that can really sharpen your reflexes and target prioritization. Finally, for focused, low-stress practice, don't overlook Custom Games against Bots. This is your personal training ground. You can choose specific maps, adjust bot difficulty, and practice specific techniques without the pressure of live players. Want to exclusively practice quick-scoping on a certain angle? Set up bots and go for it! This is where you can refine your mechanics before taking them into public matches. Beyond game modes, a few quick tips: Experiment with your sensitivity settings until it feels just right. Pay attention to your crosshair placement – try to keep it at head-level where enemies are likely to appear. And most importantly, learn the maps! Knowing popular routes and power positions will give you a huge advantage. Sniping in FPS games is incredibly rewarding. It takes time and dedication, but by focusing your practice in these game modes and applying a few key strategies, you'll be hitting those incredible shots and securing those eliminations like a pro in no time. Keep grinding, and happy sniping!
