I feel like Black American women need to open more salons that serves our community because we understand our hair texture. We need to make it more affordable to it can be common like going to a fast food restaurant lol. this is my personal option from experience. Caribbean/african American women are the best when it comes to hair because we are very creative. but the issue is thier isnt a balance. more of us needs to open more affordable salons for our community that is accessible everywhere in all states like a chain salon. that black peoeple can find work and also the antiblackness will be at a minimum. Less texture discrimination will occur and we can cater to all hair types. Spend money with your own community and keep the black dollars circulating. All beauty services from hair, nails,spas,everything on the table.

The images in our minds of women under hooded hair dryers, or stylists meticulously working on a new look, are so iconic for a reason – they represent a space built for us, by us. Beyond the perfect hairstyle, these salons are vital economic engines. When we spend our money within our community, we're not just getting a service; we're investing in local entrepreneurs, creating job opportunities, and ensuring that our dollars circulate where they can make the most impact. This flow of capital strengthens our communities from within, fostering growth and self-sufficiency. Let's also talk about the incredible artistry! From stunning braided designs to perfectly shaped afros adorned with hair picks, Black hair styling is a rich tapestry of tradition and innovation. These salons are where these traditions are passed down, new trends are born, and our hair is celebrated as a crown. We need spaces where texture discrimination is a foreign concept, and all hair types are welcomed and expertly cared for. So, for all my fellow fans of hair out there, what can we do? We can actively seek out and support Black-owned salons, share our positive experiences, and advocate for more such businesses in our areas. Let's make it a movement to ensure that every Black woman, man, and child has access to quality, culturally competent hair care at a fair price.
