Black women and Progressive culture.

Black women ( especially BAW ) have the healthiest self esteem and racial pride. I lived around different cultures of women and men, so my observations are very unbiased. A lot of poc women (depending on how they are raised) play into yt supremacist ideologies interms of practicing hierarchy thinking. Skin bleaching and chasing yt men or women just for social status(bettering the race )is a very common pratices in many poc cultures. They don't resist western beauty standards but they try to heavily assimilate because of low racial self esteem or depending on what culture they are from they continue to uphold caste system. What i love about Black American people they dont promote skin bleaching. They actually have a progressive culture. If you'll noticed Black Americans culture is the youngest yet they are further mentaility when it comes to breaking down patriarchy, racism, sexism, homophobia, tranphobia, and Human rights. The older I get i actually prefer to be in Community with educated Black women (especially AA) because as a collective we have done the work to move society further. To be honest a lot of people are in a sunken place and you have to leave them alone. A lot of communities just have a colonized mind and they are too far gone. Imaging complaing about injustices or racism but in your home country you treat the darker skin ppl/ non- white ppl horrible .Why are you in 2025 and your mindset is still in the 1800s, you have to evolve. That is why education and breaking generational cycles are very important.

1/17 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, I have found that Black American women uniquely embody a strong sense of self-worth and cultural pride that often surpasses many other communities. This resilience stems from a collective commitment to rejecting oppressive ideals such as skin bleaching and colorism, which unfortunately persist in many other people of color (POC) cultures. Witnessing these dynamics firsthand, I noticed that embracing natural beauty and cultural identity contributes significantly to healthier mental health and empowerment. One of the most inspiring aspects of Black American culture is its active challenge to various social injustices including racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. This progressive mindset encourages continuous education and the breaking of generational cycles marked by colonization and internalized oppression. The emphasis on community support among Black women fosters an environment where collective healing and advancement can thrive. A particularly important lesson is the need to evolve beyond outdated caste and hierarchy thinking that still affects some POC communities globally. I have seen that when communities consciously reject colonial mentalities and work together to uplift each other, it leads to profound societal progress. This transformation is not just ideological but demonstrated in practical ways like advocating for human rights and creating inclusive spaces. Moreover, the encouragement to practice compassion, patience, acceptance, and forgiveness—as beautifully summarized by Erykah Badu’s quote on beauty being both spiritual and physical—resonates deeply within the culture. These values help nurture self-love and respect which are essential for dismantling internalized prejudices and establishing a more equitable society. Being part of educated, progressive Black women’s communities has personally helped me grow and stay motivated in addressing social issues. It has shown me the power of collective action in moving society forward and the importance of rejecting social pressures that devalue darker skin and non-white identities. These experiences highlight why fostering education and inclusive dialogues is critical to overcoming systemic oppression in 2025 and beyond.
