... Read moreStarting a junk journal can feel overwhelming due to the vast amount of materials and styles available, but my first experience sharing on Substack allowed me to connect with a community of creative minds who appreciate art journaling as much as I do. In that article, I emphasized the joy of repurposing everyday items—old book pages, ticket stubs, fabric scraps—to create a unique visual diary. Beyond aesthetics, these journals become a personal storybook filled with memories and artistic expression. What fascinated me the most is how flexible junk journaling can be; you don't have to be an expert artist to create something meaningful and beautiful. For those new to this craft, I shared tips on selecting the right base journal, organizing your materials, and finding inspiration in the simplest places like nature walks or vintage shops. I also encouraged sharing your work, as receiving feedback and seeing other people's journals enriches your creative journey. In my Substack article, I linked to various resources and examples that inspired me, which I recommend checking out if you want ideas to kickstart your own junk journal. Overall, this experience not only helped me explore my creative side but also connected me with a supportive community passionate about art and storytelling through scrapbooking and journaling.
