This weekend project took me TWO months 😮‍💨

I’m delusional, so that’s why I thought it was going to take me a weekend 🤣

Yall I finally finished it! And I made it a set BWAHAHAHA. If you’ve been following me, then you’d know I started a freehand sweater back in September once I found out about these Anniversary Cake yarns.

The hardest part in all of this was making the sleeves tbh. I tried my hardest to mimic the other sleeve once I got done with the first sleeve and it was so complicated I said F it 😭 BUT I saved it with the ruffles! This was a freehanded NO PATTERN. So I am really proud of myself 👏🏽👏🏽

I bought more yarn, so what should I make?!?! Tell me below. Check my notes for the new yarn! ⬇️

... Read moreTaking on a crochet project without a pattern can be both exciting and challenging, especially when using intricate yarns like the Yarnspirations CARON Anniversary Cake. This special yarn offers beautiful color gradients and textures that elevate handmade garments but also demand careful attention to stitch count and tension. One of the biggest hurdles in freehand crochet is achieving symmetry, particularly with sleeves. Often, trying to replicate one sleeve exactly can lead to frustration, as natural variations happen in freehand work. Embracing design elements like ruffles or a high-low skirt effect not only adds unique style but also cleverly camouflages minor asymmetries. This project highlights how patience and flexibility are key in handmade garment creation. What begins as a simple weekend idea can evolve into a two-month labor of love—transforming into a three-piece set with thoughtful details. Sharing your progress and seeking feedback from communities such as #AskLemon8 or #blackcrochetcontentcreator can offer encouragement and useful tips. If you’re inspired to start your own freehand project, consider experimenting with Anniversary Cake yarns or similar gradient yarns that provide a blend of colors and textures. Remember, the magic of crochet lies in its imperfections and the personal touch you add. Whether you’re making a sweater, skirt, or accessories, celebrate your creativity and enjoy the process. And when finished, flaunt your work with pride—every stitch tells your unique crafting story.
