I learned the hard way that words mean very little when someone’s actions never change.
Someone can say they’ve changed, ask for another chance, and make all the right promises. But if they continue behaving in ways that don’t align with respect and commitment, those promises become meaningless.
Walking away wasn’t easy, but I realized I deserved consistency, honesty, and peace—not confusion and repeated disappointment.
Looking back, one thing that really opened my eyes was the content he chose to share and engage with. To me, it felt like women’s bodies—particularly women with breast implants were being used as attention-grabbing props in fitness content rather than being treated with genuine respect. That reflected values I simply couldn’t accept or build a future with.
Him : i preferred women with bigger boobs.
if your breast can be bigger like that gym girl at the gym, I will “love” u more
Me: that’s a very hurtful thing to say, im not changing myself just to fit your standards.
Him: no, im just saying? 🤷🏻♀️!better than small right?
Believe patterns, not promises. Respect is shown through consistent actions, not words.
The biggest lesson? Don’t let someone’s potential outweigh the reality of how they treat you. Believe actions, not excuses.
Healing isn’t about proving anything to anyone. It’s about choosing yourself and refusing to settle for less than the respect you deserve.
... Read moreFrom my experience, the hardest part about realizing someone hasn't truly changed is untangling the emotional hope you hold onto because of their promises. It’s tempting to believe in the potential for growth, especially when they say all the right things and seem remorseful. However, the real test lies in their day-to-day actions and the way they treat you in both private and public moments.
One thing I noticed is how subtle behaviors can reveal deeper attitudes—such as the types of social media content they consume or share. For instance, when a partner repeatedly engages with content that objectifies women or values superficial traits, it signals core values that might clash irreconcilably with your own. This became a glaring red flag for me, especially when coupled with hurtful comments about physical appearance. It showed a lack of genuine respect for me as a person and made me question our future together.
I also learned the importance of setting clear boundaries. It’s not about controlling others, but about protecting your self-worth. When someone pushes you to change your appearance or personality to fit their ideals, that’s a sign of manipulation and disrespect, not love. Walking away was incredibly hard, not just because of emotional attachment, but because it felt like giving up on a potential I once believed in.
Healing comes not from proving yourself to others but from choosing yourself—prioritizing your peace and self-respect. It's empowering to recognize that your value doesn't depend on someone else's approval or standards. Every time you say no to settling for less than you deserve, you reclaim your power.
Trust is built on consistent respect, honesty, and kindness over time. So my advice to anyone who feels stuck is to watch for patterns, not promises, and don't be afraid to walk away from those who can’t show you genuine care and respect through their actions.
Good on you for walking away! The hardest choices are the simplest ones. If he couldn't afford to respect you then you are right to step away from that relationship ❤️
Yes girl, never alter what you believed in for anyone. If he love you, he should love you for who you are. When we got married, he offered to pay for my boob job. Thank god I was scared of pain, I rejected his offer. Maybe that’s why he is an ex now 🤭
