I had to know!!!!

2025/7/11 Edited to

... Read moreOh my goodness, can anyone else relate to that feeling? Staring at a towering pile of books, knowing each one holds a new adventure, yet feeling completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of 'unread' labels! I recently took the plunge and counted mine – a staggering 245 unread books out of my collection of 380! It's a mix of exciting new releases, beloved classics I've been meaning to revisit, and impulse buys that just called to me from the bookstore. For fellow bookworms battling their own 'physical TBR' (To Be Read) pile, it can feel like a luxurious problem, right? But also a little guilt-inducing! My shelves, including my trusty white bookshelf, are overflowing, and I even have some tucked away in closets. It's a constant balancing act between wanting to read everything and just admiring the aesthetic of a well-stocked home library. But let's be honest, those unread books can also create a beautiful aesthetic! I've found that even a "pile of unread books" can be styled to look inviting. Think about arranging them by color, size, or even genre to create visual interest. Adding a few decorative items like small plants, unique bookends, or a cozy blanket can transform a daunting stack into an inviting reading nook. It's all about making your personal library a reflection of your passion, whether those books have been read or are eagerly awaiting their turn. If you're feeling the same pressure to dive into your unread collection, you're not alone! Many of us are taking on an #unreadbookschallenge. Here are a few strategies I'm trying to conquer my own mountain: The "First In, First Out" Rule: Try to read the books you've owned the longest. It's a great way to clear out those long-forgotten treasures. Monthly Picks: Select 2-3 books from your TBR at the beginning of each month and commit to reading only those. This helps reduce decision fatigue. Genre Rotation: If you have diverse tastes, try rotating genres. Finish a fantasy, then pick up a thriller, then a non-fiction. It keeps things fresh! Buddy Reads: Find a friend to read an unread book with. The accountability and shared experience can be incredibly motivating. Re-evaluate: Sometimes, a book just isn't for you anymore. It's okay to donate or re-home books that no longer spark joy. Clearing space can be incredibly liberating and makes room for new, exciting reads. Remember, a large TBR pile isn't a sign of failure; it's a testament to your love for stories and knowledge. It's a reminder of all the adventures still waiting for you. Let's embrace our unread books, find joy in their presence, and slowly but surely, turn those 'to be read' into 'read'!
