My OC

Hey everyone! Drawing my own original characters (OCs) is one of my favorite creative outlets, and I'm so excited to share more about the process with you all. You might be wondering, 'What exactly is an OC?' Well, an Original Character (OC) is essentially a character you create from your own imagination, rather than one from an existing story or franchise. It's a fantastic way to explore your creativity, develop your unique artistic style, and even tell your own visual stories. For me, creating an OC is like bringing a little piece of my imagination to life on a blank canvas – or in my case, a pristine, white page of a spiral-bound sketchbook, just waiting for ideas to flow! Starting an OC drawing doesn't have to be daunting. Many of you search for 'cool easy sketches' or 'art sketch drawing,' and I totally get that! My process often begins with simple shapes and initial outlines. Don't worry about perfection; the first pencil sketch is all about getting those core ideas down. For my most recent OC, I started with a stylized face, playing with exaggerated features. I always find it fun to give my characters distinct personalities, and a wide grin felt just right for this one! Thinking about 'different art styles for characters' is key here – you don't have to stick to realism. Embracing a stylized approach can make your characters truly unique and memorable. As I develop my OC, I also think about what gives them meaning. Queries like 'my oc in symbolism' are super interesting! While this particular OC might not have deep symbolic lore yet, I often consider elements that could add layers. For example, adding a top hat wasn't just a random choice; it adds a certain flair and personality. And what about that circular shape resembling a planet in the background? It hints at a larger world or perhaps the character's cosmic connection. These small details can make your OC feel richer and more intriguing. It’s all part of the creative journey. Once the initial sketch is solid, the real magic of 'creativity finish the drawing' begins. I love refining the lines from my pencil sketch, adding depth, and bringing out the character's features. For this piece, I decided to give the finished drawing a dramatic dark background, which really made the stylized face pop. A glowing white outline around the character added a touch of mystique and made it feel almost ethereal. The colorful, textured planet also got its swirling patterns and vibrant hues, transforming it from a simple circle into a dynamic element in the composition.
