... Read moreWhen the weather starts to cool, there’s nothing quite like a big bowl of comforting soup to warm you from the inside out. For me, these aren’t just any soups; they’re truly ‘tastees’ recipes that just hit different! I’ve been collecting and trying out some incredible recipes lately, and I just had to share how much joy they bring. It’s all about those rich flavors and the cozy feeling they create.
For those chilly evenings, I often turn to something hearty and satisfying. Grandma's Turkey Soup is an absolute classic – perfect after holidays, using every bit of that turkey frame. The depth of flavor from simmering with onion, celery, and bay leaf is just unmatched, especially with fresh corn and carrots added in. Another family favorite is Zesty Vegetable Soup. It’s so easy to whip up with ground round, beef broth, and Italian tomatoes, and you can really load it up with all your favorite mixed vegetables and elbow macaroni. It’s a complete meal in a bowl! And let's not forget Pasta Fagioli Soup II, which uses diced tomatoes, Northern beans, and spinach for a robust, garlicky, and herbaceous Italian-inspired delight.
If you’re looking for something wonderfully creamy, you are in for a treat. I recently tried a recipe for Baked Potato Soup inspired by Pillsbury's, and oh my goodness, it’s like a loaded baked potato in liquid form! Bacon, cheddar cheese, green onions, and sour cream – what’s not to love? Then there’s the indulgent Crawfish-Corn Chowder, with its rich blend of crawfish tails, half & half, cream of potato soup, and a hint of Tony Chachere's Seasoning (a must-have for that Cajun kick!). And for veggie lovers, the Creamy Asparagus Cheese Soup and Creamy Cauliflower Cheese Soup are fantastic ways to enjoy your greens with a cheesy twist.
Sometimes, I crave something with a bit of a kick. Chili Chicken Soup is my go-to for that! With pinto beans, green chiles, and plenty of chili powder and cumin, it’s both spicy and filling. And if you’re brave enough, Granny's Spicy Soup adds a whole new level of warmth with its mysterious pickling spices and a note about frozen dumplings – I’m already intrigued to try that variation!
And for those who appreciate the classics, you can't go wrong. French Onion Soup is always a showstopper with its caramelized onions, rich beef broth, and that glorious cheesy bread topping. And a special treat I discovered was the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup – if you’ve ever had it at Le Cellier Steakhouse in Epcot, you know how incredibly flavorful it is with bacon, proper cheddar, and a dash of Tabasco.
Whether it’s a quick Crockpot Cabbage Soup for a busy weeknight or a more elaborate weekend project, these recipes make fall and winter so much more enjoyable. The secret to truly ‘tastees’ soup often lies in good quality broth, fresh ingredients, and not being afraid to season well. Happy cooking, and I hope these soups bring as much comfort to your soul as they do to mine!
