January Reading Wrap Up 📚

🌟Divine Rivals 3/5. I honestly don’t know how to feel about this book. It wasn’t a bad read but it wasn’t what I expected. Don’t get me wrong having a story about magic typewriters, gods and goddesses, war, and an enemies to lovers story sounds amazing but somehow the story really didn’t live up to what it could’ve been in my opinion. In some areas the story fell flat, the world building wasn’t the most stable and some lines just completely took you out of the story as a whole ( “That’s when baseball is back” if you know you know) This book did end on a “cliffhanger” so I will read the second book to see if that will round out the series.

🌟Happy Place 5/5. Okay so I don’t consider myself a romance girly but I adore this book! This is my first read by Emily Henry and Ioved it! I loved reading about second chance romance and how realistic it was. The relationship between the two main characters was depicted as a real relationship. They struggled with their emotions and how to navigate breaking up but still working towards being friends, having arguments, and learning how to love again.

🌟 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 3/5. The fourth book in the Harry Potter series. This is one of the bigger books in the saga and tbh it didn’t really need to be. I liked the mystery aspect of the novel. We have a lot of unanswered questions in this book like “Who put Harry’s name in the Goblet of Fire?” “What are the tasks in the Triwizard Tournament?” “Who cast the dark mark?” There was A LOT of story being told in this book. The climatic scene fell a little flat for me but it exposed a necessary detail to move the story forward.

🌟 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 3/5. I will say I do like this book more than the previous book in the series. This is the biggest book by far and again it just didn’t have to be. There is SO MUCH story being told that it inadvertently doesn’t tell any story at all. We keep moving from one plot to the next and it just needed to be streamlined. We meet a lot to new characters in this book. Some are great and some are just downright annoying. Not a bad read overall just not my favorite.

The Harry Potter series, specifically Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix, continues to delves into intricate plots that challenge Harry and his friends. Despite my critical view on their length and some narrative choices, the enduring themes of friendship, bravery, and the classic battle between good and evil remain compelling. These books are definitely recommended for both seasoned fans and newcomers to dive into the wizarding world.
