Here’s one of my favorite bookish apps

It’s called BookBuddy. It keeps track of every single book that you own. In the second picture, towards the top it shows you how to add a book. Literally you just scan the barcode and boom! It’s added to your library. If the barcode doesn’t work or there is no barcode you can either type in the ISBN or search it. If it doesn’t show up in search, you can add it manually. This app has been so helpful to me. You do have to pay for unlimited books BUT it’s only $4.99 for a LIFETIME!!!! This app seriously has been so helpful for me. I was originally writing down every single book I own until I found out about this app! Now, it’s easy peasy. I would highly recommend it. Plus…for ONLY $4.99?! Yes, please!

2025/3/8 Edited to

... Read moreAfter discovering BookBuddy, my overflowing bookshelves finally feel manageable! When I first heard about it, I was a bit skeptical about paying for an app, especially for something I thought I could just manage with a spreadsheet. But that $4.99 lifetime fee? Absolutely worth every penny, and I want to share why it's been such a game-changer for my personal library. Many people wonder, 'is BookBuddy free?' While there might be a free trial, the real magic happens with the one-time purchase, which unlocks unlimited book entries. Trust me, for avid readers, that's priceless! Beyond just scanning a barcode – which is incredibly satisfying, by the way, turning a tedious task into a quick scan and done! – BookBuddy offers so much more. I used to just write down my books, but now I can catalog them in detail. The app lets you search online for titles, input ISBNs directly, or even add a book manually if it’s a rare find without a barcode. This flexibility was a huge win for my diverse collection. What truly elevates BookBuddy for me are its organizational features, many of which I saw hinted at in the app's interface (like the categories for 'All,' 'Loaned Out,' and 'Read Next'). I love being able to clearly mark books as 'Loaned Out' – no more forgotten books at a friend's house! The 'Reading Status' feature is fantastic for tracking my progress, whether a book is 'Currently Reading,' 'Finished,' or 'To Be Read.' It's like having a personal librarian in my pocket. I also frequently use the 'Favorites' section to quickly revisit beloved titles and the 'Tags' option to create custom categories beyond the standard 'Genre' or 'Author' filters. For instance, I've tagged books for 'Book Club Picks,' 'Gift Ideas,' or even 'Comfort Reads.' You can also filter by 'Series,' 'Publisher,' and 'Date Published,' making it incredibly easy to find exactly what I'm looking for or explore my collection in new ways. It’s not just about listing books; it’s about understanding and interacting with your collection. If you're pondering 'what's a book buddy' for your reading life, this app is exactly that – a reliable companion. It saves me so much time and frustration, allowing me to spend more time actually reading instead of trying to remember if I already own a particular book or where I lent that copy of my favorite novel. For anyone looking to truly master their personal library, BookBuddy is an investment that pays dividends in organization and peace of mind.
