Crochet update! Tackling my first non-hexagon cardigan! #crochet #crochetersoftiktok #crochettok #crochettiktok
After tackling a big blanket project, I really needed something fresh to sink my hook into, and the 'Turn Around The Corner' cardigan seemed like the perfect next challenge! I'm following a J Designs pattern, which I've been eyeing for a while. What drew me to this one is its unique construction – it’s not your typical sew-together piece, and that's exactly what I wanted to try after all those hexagons. It feels like a genuine step up from simpler projects. I picked out some gorgeous color-block fall shades, which I think are going to look amazing with the style. The pattern calls for a ribbon detail for the front of the sweater, which I think will add such a lovely, refined touch to the finished piece. It’s definitely a more intricate project, but I’m really enjoying seeing it come together stitch by stitch. It’s rewarding to push my skills a bit further! Of course, it hasn't been without its... adventures! If you're a fellow crocheter with pets, you know the struggle is real. My little troublemaker, Mo, has decided that every skein of yarn is his personal toy. I walked in to find a trail of yarn unraveled all the way from my bathroom upstairs down through the dining room! So, my top tip for tackling a project like this? Invest in a good yarn bowl or keep your work locked away from curious paws! It’s a constant battle, but his cuteness makes it hard to stay mad. Before I jumped into this cardigan, I also whipped up a quick bandana, which was a nice palate cleanser. It’s for my daughter and uses a lighter yarn, perfect for a little accessory. It’s good to have those smaller, quicker wins in between bigger, more complex projects like this 'Turn Around The Corner' design. It keeps the motivation going and gives me a sense of accomplishment even when the bigger project feels slow. Currently, I'm just needing to add the last strap to the bandana and it'll be ready for her!
