USEFUL TIPS BEFORE TP TEST (BBDC)!✨

Hi everyone!! Initially, I planned to update my driving experience tips in chronological order, but this is SO IMPT and thus I decided to post this first!!

🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️And yes, I assumed that you have read thru other circuit notes posted by others already, so these are some FINAL TIPS FOR TP that I figured out myself & after discussing with my BBDC driving instructors, and may save u from your TP test!!

🤔🤔What to expect: (A quick run through)

Report to Room 3 of BBDC to register, and the instructor will bring you to your car to warm up (which will be your test car too!). Warm up consists of some circuit subjects (you can request which ones you want to do more and they will let you if time permits) and trying one test route outside! Afterwards, the instructor will bring you to Lvl 2 and guide you to drop your NRIC into a letterbox, and just wait for TP to call your name, and there you go for the actual test!!

✅The tips I want to share:

🚗1. Directional change: I can’t exactly see if my car is going to hit the curb while going into the lot.

What I did: wind down the right side mirror to the same angle as vertical parking (altho instructors may not teach you that, but this is allowed!!). With this, you can better gauge how much you should reverse in without hitting the kerb!

🚙2. Parallel parking: How do I know if I have inched forward enough while moving out?

Well, some instructors will teach you to count the coloured bars on the curb from the left side mirror to ensure that it’s 3–3.5 (depends on your seating posture), and this could work most of the time.

But sometimes, different lots will have different bar markings and you can’t just blindly follow that (and only realised once you hit the curb)! So how to be more sure? Use the same way of gauging if you have moved forward enough in directional change: ensure that the right side mirror covers the curb! If cannot see, wind down the window and stick out your head to see!! (It is also allowed to open the window btw!)

🅿️3. Parallel parking: How do I ensure my car will not be too outwards of the lot (which may make my right side mirror not fully in the lot)?

If you are driving Honda Jazz (BBDC auto vehicle), ensure that the curb GO PASS the door lock fully before making the turn! This delayed turning will automatically make you more to the left of your lane (which is perfect for parallel parking!), as the initial starting position is actually the key for your final position in the lot (if you follow the sighting points and all taught by BBDC!).

☔️4. It’s raining season now, so it’s highly likely you may kena the rain while having the test. Please ensure that you have asked your instructor, latest during warm up before the test, on how to use the front and rear wiper, as well as the lights!!

💥💥LASTLY, if you haven’t chosen the test date and time yet, try to choose Mon–Fri, 11am–2pm period. There are rarely cars on the road and it’s less likely to kena the rain too!!

That’s that, jiayous!! If you happened to find it useful, please save and like!! If you have more tips to share, please comment in!

I will see you in my next post! 🚗💨

... Read moreOne useful strategy I discovered during my BBDC TP test preparation is focusing on blind spot checks. The image text reminded me how failing to check blind spots can lead to immediate test failure. So always remember to turn your head and glance quickly before lane changes or turns. Also, signal management is crucial; avoid abrupt lane changes and make sure to cancel your turn signals promptly. These small details can make a big difference on test day. Practice smooth, deliberate driving, especially on busy roads like Bukit Batok West Ave and Teck Whye Ave mentioned in the OCR text. In preparation, try using a driving simulator if you can, especially ones mimicking the BBDC TP test routes. This helps build your confidence and muscle memory before the real test. Lastly, keep track of your demerit points and strive for a clean record. The OCR scan pointed out having zero immediate failures and minimal demerit points as key to passing. It reminded me to stay calm, follow instructions, and keep safety a priority throughout the test. Good luck to all test takers!
