Embarking on an 8,000 km solo journey between Edmonton and Montreal is not just a physical challenge but a heartfelt mission to raise awareness and offer solidarity to the often overlooked community of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivors. Having experience with loved ones affected by brain injuries, I deeply appreciate the significance of such advocacy efforts. Traveling along Highway 16 and beyond, this route will touch numerous towns and communities, each with their unique stories and experiences related to TBI recovery. Brain injuries can be invisible yet life-changing, impacting memory, cognition, and emotional well-being. Supporting survivors means recognizing these challenges publicly and fostering a network of encouragement. This journey, coinciding with Brain Injury Awareness Month in June 2026, serves as a moving platform for survivors to share their voices and remind them that they are not alone or invisible. Interacting with locals, survivors, and advocates along the way will create meaningful connections that strengthen community bonds. I encourage everyone who reads this to engage actively—whether by dropping your town to invite a visit, sharing your own TBI experiences, or spreading awareness through social media channels tagged with #TBISurvivor, #WeRebuildTogether, and #InvisibleTBI. Together, we can build a more informed and compassionate society that values recovery, rehabilitation, and the resilience of those living with brain injuries.
