how i am surviving my breakup ❤️‍🩹

i was distraught. bed ridden. heart broken. shocked. i lost the man i loved for the last three years & there was nothing i could have done better to stop this from happening.

i couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that HE is struggling and being in a relationship now is not something he can handle. i still have so much love for him & i absolutely hope one day he can heal.

for the first couple of weeks, i struggled learning to be alone. going to yoga every single day. walking for 2-3 hours a day because i wasn’t sure what else i could do. life forced me to slow down. i disappeared from social media, from everyone except my mom.

i went through so many changes that were all out of my control. i moved to a new city, i had no friends & no job. all i could do was pick myself up & start something new for me.

my best advice is to go no contact. leave them alone. journal for yourself. i prefer voice journaling. treat yourself. you are trying your hardest, give yourself something nice. & never give up. your progress will not be linear, don’t be hard on yourself when you find yourself crying and sad. my heart will take awhile to heal from this but the best part is that i am trying to heal ❤️‍🩹

... Read moreGoing through a breakup can feel like the end of the world, a truly profound grief that leaves you feeling adrift and broken. I know that feeling all too well. When my long-term relationship ended, I was in shock, bedridden, and utterly heartbroken. It felt like an impossible mountain to climb, but slowly, day by day, I started my journey back to myself. If you're navigating this tough road, please know your feelings are valid, and healing is absolutely possible. One of the first and most critical steps I took was embracing the 'no-contact' rule. It sounds harsh, but it's essential for creating the space you need to heal. For me, it wasn't about anger or revenge, but about protecting my own heart and mind. Every message, every social media check, was a fresh wound. By cutting off contact, even temporarily, I stopped picking at the scab and allowed myself to truly process what happened without external influence or false hope. This period gave me the clarity to understand that the relationship was truly over, and it was time to focus solely on my own well-being. Beyond just cutting ties, I found immense solace in redirecting my energy. The original article mentioned journaling, and I second that wholeheartedly. While voice journaling was a lifeline for me, don't underestimate the power of pen and paper. Getting those swirling thoughts and emotions out of your head and onto a page can be incredibly cathartic. It helps you track your progress, identify patterns, and acknowledge your pain without letting it consume you. I also started incorporating mindfulness practices, even if it was just five minutes of quiet breathing to ground myself when overwhelmed. Physical activity became a non-negotiable part of my recovery. In the beginning, it was just long walks, sometimes for hours, with headphones on, just moving my body. Slowly, I found myself drawn back to yoga, finding peace and strength on my yoga mat in a gym. Seeing myself in athletic wear, pushing through a workout, reminded me of my resilience. Nourishing my body with healthy food also made a huge difference. Cooking for myself, creating a bowl of colorful, healthy food, became a small act of self-love. And yes, treating myself to little joys, like a refreshing Synergy Kombucha, or spending time outdoors paddleboarding on a calm lake, really did lift my spirits and remind me that life still held beauty. Healing isn't linear, and there will be days when you feel like you've taken ten steps backward. I certainly did. But don't be hard on yourself. Embrace those moments of sadness, cry if you need to, and then gently steer yourself back onto your path. Sometimes, a fresh start visually helps – like getting a new haircut, feeling pretty with newly cut, shorter curly hair, symbolizing a new chapter. Remember, this is your unique healing journey. Be patient, be kind to yourself, and never give up on finding your way back to joy and self-love.
