Surviving Undergrad As a Pre-AA Student 💉🏥

Hey yall! I’m Pre-AA, which means that I’m on the Pre-Anesthesiologist Assistant track 🩷. Anesthesiologist assistant is one of the newer, growing professions in which some of their main job responsibilities are to administer and monitor the anesthetic, adjusting or maintaining the level of anesthetic as necessary, incubate patients, maintain oxygen levels, etc 💉.

AA schools are about 2 1/2 years after undergrad and starting salaries range from $180K-$200K.

I have taken Gen Chem 1, Gen Chem 2, Ochem 1, Bio 1 and 2, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, etc 📚.

Some of the classes i’m taking right now is Cell Biology, Physics I, Engineering Living Organisms, and this interesting course on diseases! It’s been a journey, and I’m proud to say that I’m almost done!

Currently, I’m shadowing anesthesiologist assistants/CRNAs at the hospital, obtaining my medical assistant license, volunteering at the hospital, and getting ready to study for my GRE! Please let me know if you would like more information and if I can help you with anything 🩵!

... Read moreThe field of anesthesiology is booming, with the role of anesthesiologist assistants (AAs) becoming increasingly vital in healthcare. These professionals not only monitor patients during surgery but also play a key role in pain management and critical care. With a starting salary often ranging between $180K-$200K, pursuing a Pre-AA pathway can be rewarding both intellectually and financially. Prospective AAs should focus on foundational courses such as general and organic chemistry, biology, and anatomy to prepare effectively for their advanced studies. In addition, internships or shadowing experiences in hospitals are invaluable for gaining real-world insights. Networking with professionals in the field can significantly enhance job prospects, especially for recent graduates. As you delve deeper into the medical field, consider preparing for standardized tests like the GRE, which are essential for admission into graduate programs. Joining academic support groups or utilizing online resources can also provide necessary assistance. Lastly, maintaining a balance between rigorous academic demands and health is vital for overall success during your undergrad years.
