I Deleted Social Media for 30 Days

2/19 Edited to

... Read moreTaking a break from social media can be a challenging yet profoundly rewarding experience. When I first deleted all my social media apps, much like the author, I found myself habitually reaching for my phone only to realize there was no instant feed to scroll through. This empty habit was a clear sign of how ingrained these platforms had become in my daily routine. As the days passed, I noticed a significant shift in my emotional well-being. Without the constant comparison and exposure to curated content, feelings of envy and anxiety diminished considerably. This emotional reset allowed me to focus on my own thoughts and creativity rather than recycling opinions shaped by online discourse. Sleep quality also improved dramatically. Without the blue light stimulation and the urge to check notifications late into the night, I found myself naturally winding down earlier and waking up more refreshed. This better rest cycle contributed positively to my overall productivity and mood. Conversations with friends and family grew richer during this time. Freed from distraction, I was more present and engaged, leading to deeper connections. Tracking my screen time with apps like Repscroll gave me a tangible way to see progress, and ironically, watching my usage drop became a new source of satisfaction. If you're considering a digital detox, start small and be patient with the adjustment period. The benefits may not be immediate, but over time, reducing social media can lead to enhanced mental clarity, stronger relationships, and a healthier relationship with technology.
