Some of the biggest “don’ts” during the new year include:

• Don’t wash your hair (washing away good luck)

• Avoid cleaning or sweeping on New Year’s Day

• Don’t lend money

• Stay away from sharp objects or cutting things

• Wear red for prosperity and protection
