Trying to do something fun each month

I got this book last year at Barnes and Noble and I haven’t really had a chance to use it. This year I’m making it my goal to get out more and try something new. There are a lot of fun guided activities within here that I’m really excited to try!

Curious if anyone else has used a book like this before? If so what was you’re favorite activity?

... Read moreI've been so inspired by my new goal to really do something fun and new every month this year! Like many of you, I picked up a book, this one from Barnes & Noble, filled with guided activities, and I'm determined to actually use it. It's so easy to get stuck in a rut, but isn't it exciting to think about adding a little spark to each month? One of the biggest takeaways for me is making these activities *realistic and enjoyable monthly activities*. It’s not about grand, expensive trips every time, but about incorporating small, meaningful adventures. The book really emphasizes that 'trying new things' doesn't just mean big changes. It can be as simple as exploring a new self-care ritual or finally trying that beauty product you've been curious about. For example, I'm eyeing some of the self-care suggestions. Have you ever considered something like acupuncture, meditation, or tai chi? I always thought these were for 'other people,' but my book encourages me to be more curious and open-minded. Even dedicating an hour one Saturday to a guided meditation session or a gentle tai chi class could be a game-changer. These are perfect examples of enjoyable and realistic monthly activities that don't demand a huge time commitment or budget. Another fantastic idea from my guide is to 'plan a surprise outing.' This doesn't have to be anything elaborate. Think about scheduling a surprise coffee date with a coworker you enjoy, or a friend date to catch up somewhere new in your neighborhood. It's about breaking routine and sharing unexpected moments. It could even be a romantic date with your partner to a new restaurant or a local park you’ve never visited. These small, planned surprises really add to the fun and make each month feel special. To make this goal sustainable, I'm planning ahead. At the beginning of each month, I'll flip through my book and pick one or two 'new things' to try. This could be learning a new skill online, trying a new recipe, or even just taking a different route on my daily walk. The key is to step outside my comfort zone just a little bit. It's about cultivating a mindset of curiosity and embracing the unknown, even in small doses. I truly believe that these kinds of fun and realistic monthly activities are essential for mental well-being. They give us something to look forward to, a sense of accomplishment, and new stories to tell. What are some of your favorite realistic and enjoyable monthly activities that you look forward to? I'd love to add some of your ideas to my list!
