🗣️why do you say sorry all the time?

# harmOCD

4/24 Edited to

... Read moreIf you find yourself saying "sorry" excessively, it might be helpful to consider underlying causes beyond simple politeness. One important factor could be Harm OCD, a condition where individuals experience intense, unwanted fears of harming themselves or others—even when they have no intention or desire to do so. These intrusive thoughts can be deeply distressing and go against one’s core values, leading to a cycle of anxiety and compulsive behaviors such as repeated apologizing or seeking reassurance. From my personal experience, recognizing the link between constant apologizing and anxiety was a turning point. Initially, I thought I was just being overly polite or insecure, but understanding the role of Harm OCD helped me develop a more compassionate approach toward myself. It’s important to remember that these thoughts are not reflective of your true character but are symptoms of a disorder that needs attention. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure response prevention (ERP) have proven effective in managing these intrusive thoughts and reducing compulsive apologizing. Living with Harm OCD often means dealing with a constant fear of causing harm, which can manifest as over-apologizing to pre-empt imagined consequences. Educating yourself about this condition, seeking professional help, and engaging in support groups can make a significant difference. You’ll likely find that you’re not alone in this experience, and many people have successfully learned to manage their symptoms and gain greater confidence in social situations. If you or someone you know frequently apologizes without an obvious reason, consider the possibility of Harm OCD. Understanding the why behind this behavior is the first step to breaking free from unnecessary guilt and anxiety, empowering you to communicate with greater ease and authenticity.

Welp wassup twin! i have Harm OCD too. It leads to a variety of different mental problems, and people can also say sorry an awful lot from it. So, just know, it's ok. It's ok to say sorry for everything but some things you shouldn't apologize for like when it's their own fault.

Stop Apologizing So Much & Say This Instead
Why do we say "sorry" for simply existing? For taking up space? For being human? Every time we apologize unnecessarily, we chip away at our confidence. It’s like telling the world, I don’t deserve to be here. But you DO. Your words matter. Your presence matters. Instead of shr

Why I quit being a people pleaser
Ever since I can remember I’ve always been a people pleaser it’s all I’ve ever known. I was always so scared to say no in fear or what others would think of me. I was in such a toxic mindset trying to please everyone while I myself was incredibly miserable. I felt like I could no longer truly think
