ANIMALS CAN TELL WHEN YOUR PREGNANT👶🏻🐾

As you can see, Gates wouldn’t leave me alone 😂 Every dog and cat I was around when I was pregnant acted like my personal bodyguards—even the mean ones! The only reason Hank (the St. Bernard) wasn’t on top of me was because I wouldn’t let him. I was scared he might accidentally hurt the baby.

Anyone else have pets get super clingy during pregnancy? 🐶🐱

... Read moreIt's truly incredible how intuitive our fur babies are, isn't it? When I was pregnant, I experienced first-hand how my dogs and cats seemed to know something monumental was happening, long before I even told anyone! Like many of you, I had dogs like Gates who wouldn’t leave my side, and even the more aloof cats, like Jasper, started seeking out cuddles more often. But how do they really know? While we can't ask them directly, veterinarians and animal behaviorists have some fascinating theories. One of the most popular ideas is their incredible sense of smell. Pregnancy causes significant hormonal changes in a woman's body, subtle shifts in scent that are completely imperceptible to humans but likely very obvious to a dog or cat. They might also pick up on changes in your routine, your body language, or even your heartbeat – for example, a dog resting its head on a pregnant belly might be sensing the developing life within. The shift in their behavior was remarkable. My usually independent St. Bernard, Hank, became exceptionally watchful, always seeming to keep an eye on me. He wasn't allowed to climb on me due to his size, but his presence alone was so reassuring. Other dogs, like Greta, Puppers, and Timber Lynn, became my constant companions, often choosing to nap right beside me or, yes, resting their heads right on my pregnant stomach. It was like they instinctively understood the need for extra protection and comfort. This isn't just about clinginess; it's often a deep bond and a protective instinct kicking in. They sense vulnerability and respond by becoming your personal guardians. For anyone currently pregnant with pets, or planning to be, these experiences are so common. It's important to remember to maintain consistency in your pet's routine as much as possible. While their increased affection is heartwarming, also prepare them for the arrival of the baby. You can start by introducing baby scents, setting up the nursery, and even playing baby sounds. For larger, more enthusiastic dogs like my Hank, gentle training to avoid jumping or being too boisterous can ensure safety for both you and the baby. Seeing my pets respond to my pregnancy with such unwavering love and protection made the journey even more special. It solidified our bond in a way I never anticipated. If your dog is resting its head on your pregnant belly, or your cat is suddenly glued to your side, cherish those moments. They're telling you, in their own special way, that they're ready to welcome the newest member of your family, and they're already on duty as the baby's first best friends and bodyguards. Have your pets shown similar signs? I'd love to hear your stories!
