How To Extend Burn Time On Your Candles
These are a few habits I have learned over the years and have followed-I can thank my mom for teaching me most of them when I was really young. I have loved candles for as long as I can remember, and I've used these techniques ever since.
🕯️ Trimming the wick before lighting (keep it at about 1/4inch) reduces smoke, soot, and prevents that mushroom-shaped buildup on the tip of the wick-which happens when your wicks are too long
🕯️ Let the candle burn until the entire top layer melts-this prevents tunneling, improves an even burn, and keeps the wax from being wasted
🕯️ “Hug" your candle if it starts to hollow out-if the wax I burning straight down, gently push the softened edges back in while its warm so the candle can continue to burn evenly
🕯️ Avoiding drafts helps a ton-airflow can cause uneven burns and shortens the life of your candle
🕯️ I know not everyone cares this much, but I do. Candles are a little luxury in my home, and if I'm buying nice ones, I want every hour out of them
