Not going to lie when I first met a Canadian boy on my Disney program and we discussed the idea of me moving to Canada I didn’t really know much about it as a country. We didn’t learn any Canadian history at school or anything much about it at all. I’m embarrassed to admit I thought everyone could speak French and it was cold all the time 😶

I took the plunge though and followed a boy I’d only met 10 months before across the world….and it turned out to be the best thing I ever did.

Marriage, citizenship, a dog and five homes later we are still living the dream ❤️🇨🇦

... Read moreWhen I first arrived in Canada, I was surprised by how welcoming and diverse the country truly is. My initial worries about the cold weather were quickly replaced by appreciation for the vibrant cities and stunning natural landscapes. As someone who had only heard stereotypes, experiencing Canadian culture firsthand helped me understand why so many choose to call this place home. Navigating the process of gaining citizenship was an eye-opening experience that taught me a lot about legal systems and patience. It was rewarding to become officially part of a country that offers endless opportunities. Along the way, having a supportive partner made all the difference, and together we've truly embraced the lifestyle here, from adopting our dog to finding homes that suit different stages of our lives. I also learned that not everyone in Canada speaks French, except in some regions, which debunked my biggest misconception. The community spirit and kindness I encountered made adapting to my new environment much easier than expected. For anyone considering a move to Canada, I would say it’s important to keep an open mind and embrace the adventure—and maybe don't judge the weather too quickly!
