acne & breakouts: prevention‼️

I have spent hundreds of dollars (literally) on facials, “medical-grade” skincare, supplements, you name it. I could make a whole separate post on just that!!

We so often overlook the trigger points of our acne and treating the cause and root issues, and instead focus on buying and trying more and more products. It took me a few years to connect the dots on some of these, so I hope it helps someone else who might be struggling. 🥲

🫶🏼 VITAMIN B12, B6, & BIOTIN SUPPLEMENTS

I know these (especially biotin) are advertised for great skin benefits, but it can actually have the opposite effect and be a trigger for acne! Avoid high levels of them.

🫶🏼 ENERGY DRINKS

For the same reason above, they are often packed with a ridiculous amount of B vitamins (over 1000% of your DV) and biotin. All of your favorites: Alani Nu, Celsius, Reign, Bang, C4. If you’re like me and can’t get yourself to give up energy drinks, try some acne-safe options. I’ve personally been drinking Ryse for months! I order off Amazon.

🫶🏼 TOPICAL VITAMIN C

While vitamin C inherently isn’t bad for you, and actually can provide amazing benefits, it can also be a trigger for those who struggle with acne. Try taking a break and see if your skin improves.

🫶🏼 ELF HALO GLOW

I haven’t quite figured out what ingredient(s) trigger my acne in this, but after using it on and off for months to “test” if it was really causing my skin issues, there was a pretty clear correlation for me. :(

🫶🏼 MOISTURIZERS W/ SHEA BUTTER

This one is pretty common for a lot of people, but a good reminder to check your ingredients on your skincare!

Should I make a post of topical products that ACTUALLY worked to clear my skin? 👀

What are some acne triggers for you?

#skincare #skincaretips #acne #acnetips

2024/7/19 Edited to

... Read moreAcne can be triggered by various common factors, often overlooked by many. One major culprit is vitamin B12 and B6 along with biotin supplements. While marketed for skin health, these can lead to breakouts for some individuals. It's essential to monitor your intake, especially with energy drinks packed with these vitamins, like Celsius and Bang. Moisturizers with shea butter may also be triggers, so always check ingredient labels. Topical products containing vitamin C are beneficial but can irritate sensitive skin types, exacerbating acne for some. Be mindful of your skincare routine, as some popular items, like ELF Halo Glow, may not suit everyone. Understanding these triggers can significantly help your skincare journey and lead to healthier skin overall. Engaging with the community, sharing insights on what works and what doesn’t, can be incredibly valuable. Asking others about their experiences can lead to discovering new strategies for preventing breakouts. Don't hesitate to explore the connection between diet, supplementation, and skincare products to identify personalized triggers that might be affecting your skin.
