getting back into my practice

i always find myself drifting a little bit away from my practice during the winter season, i used to get so stressed and annoyed about this same funk that happens every year. but recently i’ve started to understand that our bodies and minds literally coincide with the seasons and it is perfectly natural to fall in and out of daily patterns as the earth changes around us.

everyone is different. my husband, for example, has more of a “funk phase” during the height of summer and mine is in the winter. but i guess what i’m getting at here is EVERYONE and everything goes through periods of death and rebirth just as the seasons do. don’t be hard on yourself !! instead, find a gentle way to ease yourself back into the things that being you joy.

something i’ve been doing recently is listening to this witchy podcast and reading a new book on the craft. this is sparking my brain back onto the subject and opening my mind to it again. my current podcast is “back on the broomstick” i’m only on episode 6 but i like it so far !! if you have any other recommendations please comment them below :)

(edit: this is NOT my podcast lol it’s just something i found and have been liking. i should’ve worded this differently)

... Read moreIt's so easy to find ourselves drifting from our spiritual or witchcraft practice, especially as the seasons shift and life gets busy. For me, winter often brings a natural lull, a time when my energy dips and my dedicated practice can feel more like a chore than a joy. But I've learned that this ebb and flow is perfectly normal, a reflection of the earth's own cycles of rest and renewal. Instead of beating myself up, I now focus on gentle ways to ease back in when I feel ready. One of the most effective strategies I’ve found is to simply reconnect with the foundational elements of my craft. If you're feeling that seasonal slump, try revisiting your sacred space. Sometimes, just tidying your altar, cleansing your tools, or arranging your crystals can spark that forgotten connection. It's not about grand rituals right away, but about creating an inviting atmosphere that whispers to your spirit. Think of it as preparing the ground for new growth. Just like the article mentioned, soaking up new information can be incredibly stimulating. A good 'witchy podcast' or a fascinating book on the craft can reignite your passion and introduce fresh perspectives. I've been loving "Back on the Broomstick" myself, especially their discussions, and it's been a fantastic way to passively engage even when I don't have the energy for active spellwork. Learning about topics like "Elemental Magic" has given me new ideas for simple, seasonal rituals that resonate with the energy of nature, helping me feel more aligned with the shifting world around me. Beyond reading and listening, getting back into practice can mean reconnecting with nature itself. Even a short walk outdoors, observing the changing leaves, feeling the wind, or simply sitting by a tree can be a profound act of grounding. It reminds us that our bodies and minds are intimately connected to the larger patterns of the earth, and that our own cycles of rest are just as valid as periods of intense activity. Embrace this time for introspection and inner work, knowing that inspiration will return when it's meant to. Finally, remember to practice self-compassion. There’s no right or wrong way to engage with your practice, and breaks are a natural part of any journey. Instead of pushing yourself, try simple, low-pressure activities: light a candle and meditate for five minutes, journal about your spiritual insights, or simply spend time in quiet contemplation. These small acts can build momentum and gently guide you back to the heart of your practice, making the return feel less like a chore and more like a welcome homecoming. Don't worry about being perfect; just be present, and the magic will follow.
