I confused control with sovereignty for years…
control looked like:
→ obsessively counting calories
→ punishing workouts after “bad” meals
→ rigid rules I was terrified to break
→ ignoring pain because discipline meant pushing through
I thought this was strength.
I thought this was sovereignty.
I was wrong.
This new year, I’m learning the difference.
Sovereignty isn’t control.
Sovereignty is command.
Command asks, “What does my body need today?” — and trusts the answer.
Command chooses challenge from love, not punishment.
Command knows when to push an edge — and when to stop.
This week, I made two lists.
within my power:
→ how I speak to my body
→ my training choices
→ my rest practices
→ my boundaries
beyond my power:
→ other people’s opinions
→ beauty standards
→ genetics
→ the past
For years, I tried to control what was never mine to command.
I exhausted myself forcing what couldn’t be forced.
This new year, I’m practicing something different.
Commanding my temple absolutely.
Releasing everything else.
Control is fear. Command is love. In 2026, I choose sovereignty.
