This is what I learned as a new 22-year old mom 🥰✨

Realities of early motherhood no one can truly explain until you live them 🤍

Becoming a mom doesn’t just change your schedule — it reshapes how you think, feel, and move through the world. Those first months are tender, overwhelming, beautiful, and transformative all at once.

Here’s what that season often looks like beneath the surface:

✨ Sleep becomes lighter and more intentional

You learn to function in shorter stretches, always tuned into your baby. It’s tiring, but it’s also your instincts doing exactly what they’re meant to do.

✨ The newborn days are hard — and somehow still missed

Even through the exhaustion, there’s something about those tiny moments that stays with you long after they pass.

✨ Feeding looks different for everyone

Breastfeeding, formula, pumping, combo feeding — there isn’t one “right” path. What matters is a nourished baby and a supported parent.

✨ Rest becomes more about moments than hours

A slow morning, a deep breath, a warm drink — small pockets of time start to feel deeply restorative.

✨ Time feels like it speeds up

You watch growth happen almost overnight, and suddenly you realize how quickly each stage comes and goes.

✨ Your relationships evolve

Some connections fade with changing priorities, while others grow stronger through shared support and understanding.

✨ The little things feel big

First smiles, new sounds, tiny wins — they carry so much weight because you’re witnessing your baby’s world unfold in real time.

✨ Your body is working overtime

Healing, adjusting hormonally, and caring for a newborn is an enormous physical and emotional effort. Grace and patience with yourself matter here.

✨ You’re allowed to feel overwhelmed

Motherhood includes joy and doubt at the same time. Struggling doesn’t take away from the love you give — it simply means you’re human.

Motherhood isn’t about mastering everything — it’s about growing alongside your baby. And when it comes to things like feeding or starting solids, having reliable guidance can take away so much of the mental noise, which is why tools like Tummi can be so helpful for many parents.

If you’re in this stage right now, just know: you’re learning, you’re adapting, and you’re doing enough 💛

... Read moreStarting motherhood at 22 is a profound journey filled with both challenges and incredible growth. One thing I quickly realized is that the newborn phase, while exhausting, is deeply precious. Sleep patterns shift dramatically—you find yourself sleeping lighter and in shorter bursts to stay alert for your baby’s needs. Despite the fatigue, these moments become special markers of your new life. Feeding your baby can feel overwhelming due to the many options like breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or a combination of both. It’s important to remember that 'fed is best'—what truly matters is that your baby is nourished and that you feel supported in whatever feeding method you choose. Having access to reliable resources, such as the Tummi app for guidance on starting solids or tracking allergens, can reduce stress and empower your decisions. Time seems to accelerate unexpectedly. Those small milestones—a first smile, a new sound, a successful feeding—carry immense joy and meaning because you’re witnessing your baby’s world expand in real time. Documenting these moments with photos and videos is something I wish I’d done more; they serve as cherished reminders of how quickly your little one grows. Your relationships will evolve. Some friendships may fade as priorities shift, but others grow stronger, offering invaluable support. It’s essential to nurture connections that uplift you during this transformative time. Finally, be gentle with your body and yourself. Healing after birth while caring for a newborn demands physical and emotional strength you might not expect. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes—it doesn’t diminish your love or dedication; it simply highlights your humanity. Embracing this journey with patience and grace helps build confidence as you grow alongside your baby.

As a 22 year old… - I’ve learned that, not everything is going to be on your time. You may not have a car like everyone else, you may not have your own house, and you might not be making 6 figures, but that does not mean you are not where you need to be. - I did not get my license to drive til

1 prioritize self care - it’s so so important to take care of yourself to best take care of the little ones who need you. 2 stay organized - it does help you in the long run and definitely do not expect to be organized all the time because you will forget but be kind to yourself when you can
