... Read moreIt's so easy to feel like we're not doing enough, especially when life throws multiple challenges our way. I remember times when it felt like I was trying to heal a past wound while simultaneously navigating a new loss or a difficult transition. The Vex King quote, 'You're doing the best you can,' really hit home for me during these moments. It's a profound reminder that growth isn't linear, and healing isn't a race. We often try to force ourselves to 'just get over it,' but true healing happens when we allow ourselves the space to feel, process, and yes, even grieve. Giving yourself credit for simply showing up each day, for breathing, for trying, is a revolutionary act of self-love. One of the hardest parts of any healing journey is learning to let go. Whether it's letting go of expectations, old hurts, or even toxic connections, it requires immense courage. I once heard someone say, 'everything starts healing when you stop feeling,' which I interpret not as suppressing emotions, but rather as stopping the endless rumination and allowing yourself to truly move forward after processing. This isn't about forgetting; it's about releasing the grip the past has on your present. This is where self-reflection becomes incredibly powerful. Taking time to understand why certain things affect you, what you truly need, and how you can better support yourself, is key to cultivating deeper self-love. It’s about being honest with yourself, forgiving yourself, and consciously choosing peace. So, how do we actually do this 'loving ourselves more' thing? For me, it started with small, consistent actions. It's not always grand gestures. Sometimes it’s setting boundaries, saying 'no' when I'd rather say 'yes' out of obligation. Other times, it's about prioritizing my rest, fueling my body with nourishing food, or engaging in hobbies that genuinely bring me joy. Remember that Vex King quote mentioned growing, healing, forgiving, grieving, searching, letting go, loving others, and remembering self-love simultaneously? That's the reality. We're juggling so much, and simply acknowledging that is a huge step. Practicing gratitude for the small wins, journaling to process thoughts, or even just looking in the mirror and offering a kind word to yourself—these are all ways to build that foundation of self-love. It's a continuous process, and the most important thing is to keep showing up for yourself, recognizing that even on your toughest days, you are doing the best you can.
