Welcome to my AIT Room tour

Hey everyone! So glad you're checking out my Fort Lee AIT room tour. Moving into the barracks here in Fort Lee, Virginia, has definitely been an experience. When I first got here, I was a bit nervous about what my 'home away from home' would look like, especially after seeing so many different army dorms online. First off, the hallway outside our rooms is pretty standard, but once you step inside, you realize this is where you'll be spending a lot of your time. My room, like many others, has two beds – sometimes bunk beds, sometimes two singles. It really depends on your specific building. We have simple nightstands with small lamps, which are great for late-night studying without disturbing your roommate. Having a window is a blessing for some natural light, though the blinds are usually drawn for privacy. One of the things I was most curious about was the vanity area. It’s not huge, but it's enough space to get ready in the morning. Keeping it tidy is key! And speaking of tidy, let's talk about the latrine – or as we call it in the civilian world, the bathroom. Ours has a pretty standard shower stall with a curtain, a toilet, and tiled walls. It's clean and functional, and you quickly get used to the shared aspect of it. Keeping a shower caddy is a game-changer! Storage is another big one. Each of us gets an open wall locker for our uniforms, boots, and other gear. It's surprising how much you can fit in there if you organize well. I've seen some creative solutions to maximize space. Making your AIT room feel a bit more personal is really important for morale. Even with strict rules, little touches can make a difference. I've seen people add small blankets, photos, or even a few plush toys like my moose (wearing their little 'U.S. ARMY' shirts, of course!). It helps to bring in those Christmas vibes or just a sense of comfort. My study area with its desk and chair is where I spend a lot of my evenings. It’s crucial to have a dedicated space for coursework. Life inside these Fort Lee AIT dorms is definitely structured, but there are ways to make it your own. My biggest advice for anyone coming here is to embrace the community, keep your space organized, and find those small comforts that remind you of home.
