5 tips on how I got started
From 2 shoots a year to 3-4 a month
Here’s how I do it on a budget 😉
✨Networking at Photoshoot events; get to know every photographer there and find out their niche. This is crucial because you’re spending at most $100 the least $10 to use a space with multiple photographers and if you prep well by bringing multiple outfits you can get a lot of content for your portfolio. If you’re shy or maybe not feeling confident enough. I get it truly I have my days too, but we’re in a world where social media can be a conversation starter. I have yet to run into a photographer or model who’s not using instagram and not willing to share it.
✨ Facebook modeling and photography tfp pages (trade for print) ($0); join every one that’s near you and the places you’d like to visit. From there simply respond to the ads and even take the extra step of posting your own showing what you’ve been doing.
✨know the concepts you would like to do. Get it from a movie, a book, Pinterest, life.. wherever but get a sheet of paper and write it down. There’s been many times I forget a concept and see another person do exactly what I envisioned simply because I forgot or or or got lazy on the idea.
✨join instagram threads it can be a hassle because it doesn’t focus on where you are locally so you’ll see a lot of offers from all areas of the world.🗺️
✨ don’t try to perfect everything; hair, outfit, makeup, etc… I get it! every photo you see seems to be that way but by being comfortable in what you wear naturally you can create a masterpiece. You’ll notice just how many shoots you get done when you stop trying to get that one outfit out of your cart and work with what you have.
There have been times I waited weeks for outfits to come only for them not to be exactly what I envision. Ooo lastly high fashion isn’t just luxury $$$ try thrifting and you’ll get a lot more quality items within whatever you set your budget for.
