... Read moreOkay, so you're thinking about taking the Chicago water taxi to Chinatown? Let me tell you, it's one of the best ways to experience the city! My recent trip was fantastic, and I wanted to share a few more tips to make your adventure even better. First off, finding the water taxi is super easy. If you're coming from downtown or even near the Grant Park area, you'll find several convenient boarding locations right along the Chicago River. Just look for the distinctive blue and yellow signs! I hopped on right from the main Riverwalk area, and it was so straightforward. The journey itself is a treat. As we cruised down the river, I was absolutely mesmerized by the scenic river views and the towering skyscrapers that line the banks. It gives you such a unique perspective of Chicago's incredible architecture that you just can't get from the street. You'll pass under several iconic bridges, too – perfect for photos! The ride to Chinatown takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on the route and stops. It's such a relaxing way to travel, and the $10 one-way fare is an absolute steal for the experience. Before you know it, you'll spot the traditional Chinese pavilion that marks the water taxi's arrival point in Chinatown. It's truly a grand entrance! Once you step off, you're immediately immersed in the vibrant atmosphere. I loved exploring the bustling street scene and admiring the beautiful red and teal pagoda-style architecture. Beyond just 'shops and restaurants,' there's so much to discover! Make sure to wander down Wentworth Avenue, which is the main bustling street. You'll find everything from traditional herbal medicine shops to intricate gift stores selling unique trinkets and art. For foodies, the options are endless. I tried some incredible dim sum at a local spot, and there are so many bakeries with delicious pastries. Don't be afraid to try a new dish! If you're wondering what else to do, check out the Nine Dragon Wall – it's a stunning piece of art. Also, the Ping Tom Memorial Park, right by the river, is a peaceful oasis with beautiful gardens and offers incredible city views. It's easily walkable from the water taxi drop-off. Getting back? The water taxi runs frequently, but as the original article mentioned, taking the 'L' train back is super convenient and gives you another glimpse of city life. The Cermak-Chinatown station is just a short walk from the main street. Whether you're a local or visiting, this Chicago water taxi and Chinatown exploration is an unmissable activity!
