i don’t have a plus one but that’s okay i will go solo 🙈
Attending events solo can feel daunting at first, especially when you’re used to having a plus one. But my recent experience taught me that going solo to an art show has its unique joys and benefits. Initially, I assumed my husband would join me, as he usually does, and even reserved two tickets. However, when he had to skip because his favorite football team from Argentina was playing, I decided not to let it spoil my plans. Instead, I reached out to friends to see if anyone could join last minute, but most had prior commitments or late work hours. So I embraced the solo vibe, deciding to treat it as a personal date and a chance for some self-growth. Wearing a Manchester United shirt—his favorite team’s colors—felt like a fun nod to his passion, even though I’m not a football fan myself. Going solo allowed me to focus fully on the art, immerse myself in the creativity around me, and enjoy the freedom of wandering at my own pace. I realized that attending these events alone can be incredibly empowering; it opens space for introspection, boosts confidence, and offers freedom to explore new interests without distractions. If you ever find yourself without a plus one, don’t hesitate to take the opportunity. Whether it’s an art show, a concert, or a travel adventure, solo outings can lead to wonderful personal insights and memorable experiences. It’s all about shifting your mindset from feeling alone to feeling independent and free. I can’t wait to share the stories and inspiration from this solo art show with my husband now!
