✨ It’s almost time for Brady Owen to be here and I’m so excited! I had been extremely nervous over the last 33 weeks of how on EARTH am I going to do this as a single mom??
- Stocked up since day one 🫡 Every TJ Maxx visit I would look for deals on miscellaneous items for his nursery as well as thrift shopping for second hand items. That rocking chair I recently purchased actually came from a second hand store for 175$ in perfect condition! All of his books and clothes were also purchased second hand from friends/once upon a child (literally love that store ☺️!) The shelving was free, coming from a church my family volunteers at!
-Signing up early for prenatal classes / programs💕 looking back, I’m so glad I decided to sign up for programs like early headstart (so he can start home visits asap, and they help prepare new moms), HANDS through the health department, WIC Programs, and Breastfeeding/Parenting Classes. As a first time mom who is doing this by their self, it’s easy to get lost and overwhelmed feeling like you can’t do this alone. I promise that it is 100% possible and there are resources/people out there who can and will help you through this beautiful journey.
-Practicing self care 🧖♀️ This whole pregnancy I’ve learned to love quiet time to myself and skin care. Trying not to do too much and overwhelm myself as I’ve had issues through my pregnancy with a high heart rate that had me in and out of the emergency room 3 times in a months time. Since I couldn’t work two jobs to occupy my time like I used to, I became obsessed with organizing my home and prioritizing my health.
As a single mom preparing for a baby, finding the right resources can feel overwhelming. It's essential to connect with local programs such as Early Head Start, WIC, and breastfeeding classes, which provide invaluable support. These resources can ease the transition into motherhood and offer practical help. Additionally, consider thrifting for nursery items, as this not only saves money but also promotes sustainability. With initiatives like community share programs and local parent groups, you can find assistance and camaraderie. Incorporating self-care practices is vital too. Prioritizing your health through quiet time and light organizing can keep stress levels lower. Remember, help is out there, and it's okay to ask for it.
