Turkey Run State Park

Had a beautiful 3 day getaway to explore this beautiful place! We spent our first day kayaking down the river , they also had canoeing and tubing available! We then spent the next day hiking through the state park where we got to walk up and inside an active waterfall! (Pictures are from hiking trip) we spent our last day thrift shopping in nearby towns before heading home sunburned and oh so refreshed !

During my visit to Turkey Run State Park, I was truly amazed by the diverse outdoor activities available that cater to all types of adventure seekers. Kayaking down the park’s winding river was a fantastic way to experience the lush scenery and get close to nature. The calm yet lively water offered a peaceful backdrop while allowing a bit of an adrenaline rush. For those who prefer a slower pace, canoeing was equally enjoyable. What really stood out for me was hiking through the trails, especially the opportunity to walk up and inside an active waterfall. This rare experience added a magical touch to the trip, providing both stunning photo opportunities and a chance to feel immersed in the natural world. The trails are well-maintained but provide enough challenge to satisfy avid hikers. Along the way, I noticed plenty of spots perfect for picnics or simply pausing to take in the scenic views. Besides the outdoor adventures, exploring nearby towns for thrift shopping was a delightful way to wind down. It’s refreshing to find unique treasures while supporting local shops. Although I returned home with a bit of a sunburn, the overall experience left me feeling invigorated and connected to nature. I highly recommend dedicating a few days to fully soak in everything Turkey Run State Park offers, from water activities to hiking and quaint town visits. For those planning a trip, consider packing sunscreen, comfortable water shoes for the river, and a camera to capture the stunning waterfalls and landscapes. Turkey Run is a perfect destination for anyone looking to blend active recreation with moments of relaxation and discovery.
