... Read moreHey everyone! So, as some of you might know, I recently made the big leap and moved to Bali. It's been an incredible adventure so far, but let me tell you, it's not all coconut drinks and sunsets! While the dream of living in Bali is definitely enchanting, there are some very real challenges that expats, especially solo travelers like myself, encounter. One of the first things you realize when LIVING in Bali, Indonesia, is that things operate on a different rhythm. Patience becomes your best friend. For instance, dealing with local bureaucracy, whether it's for visas or setting up utilities, can be a test of endurance. I quickly learned that what might take a day back home could easily stretch into a week or more here. My lesson? Always allocate extra time and bring all possible documents, even those you think you won't need! Another significant challenge is navigating the cultural nuances. Bali has a rich Hindu culture, and understanding and respecting local customs is crucial. Simple things like dress codes at temples, knowing when to give offerings, or even the etiquette in local markets can feel overwhelming at first. I've found that observing locals and asking questions (politely!) goes a long way. Learning a few basic Bahasa Indonesia phrases has also been a game-changer; even a simple 'terima kasih' (thank you) can open doors and build connections. Healthcare and safety are also important 'Things to know b4 coming to Bali.' While medical facilities are available, understanding your options and having good travel insurance is non-negotiable. And let's talk about scooters – they are everywhere! While convenient, the traffic can be chaotic. I've had to really focus on defensive driving and always wear a helmet. Plus, be mindful of stray dogs and common ailments like 'Bali belly'; always stick to bottled water and be cautious with street food, especially initially. Building a social circle as a solo expat can also be tricky. While Bali is full of travelers and digital nomads, it takes effort to move beyond superficial acquaintances. I've found that joining expat groups on social media, attending local workshops, or frequenting cafes with good co-working vibes helps. It's about putting yourself out there and being open to new friendships, both with fellow expats and wonderful locals. Finally, while Bali can be affordable, unexpected costs can creep up. From visa runs to getting repairs done, or even just adjusting to different pricing for foreigners, it pays to be financially prepared. My biggest lesson has been to keep an emergency fund and to always clarify prices beforehand, whether it's for a taxi or a local artisan's craft. Overall, overcoming these challenges has been an integral part of my Bali experience. They've taught me resilience, adaptability, and a deeper appreciation for this beautiful island and its people. For anyone planning to move or visit, these are just a few lessons I've learned firsthand. Embrace the journey, the good with the challenging, and you'll find paradise truly rewarding.

How Much To Budget for 3Wks in Spain & Portugal 💸
My partner and I take 1-2 big trips a year, usually during shoulder season - we’re not fans of traveling during the summer plus the crowds are always crazy. And being that we live (relatively) far away from everywhere else in the world, we try to make the most of each by spending at least 2-3 weeks

You’ll Never Feel Ready: Start anyway
“You never feel ready” isn’t a sign to wait… it’s a sign to decide. Most people sit in hesitation, waiting for confidence, clarity, or the “perfect moment.” But the truth is, readiness isn’t something you feel — it’s something you choose. Growth begins the second you take action despite fear, dou

The Softness That Comes When You Stop Hustling
When I left hustle culture, I thought I’d feel free. But what came first was discomfort. Who am I if I’m not constantly achieving? What is my worth if I’m not being productive? It took time to untangle my identity from output. To realize I didn’t need to constantly earn my right to rest.
