Am I crazy for wanting an elective C-Section?

FTM- recently found out I am pregnant. I am so excited to be a momma but pregnancy and labor scare the living crap out of me. I tend to have health anxiety. I’m only 6 weeks and already thinking about delivery.

I am leaning heavily towards considering an elective c-section. My mom had a long, stressful labor with me and I don’t want that. I just feel like vaginal, even with an epidural, will be a nightmare for me. While I know a c-section is no walk in the park, my big concern is trying to deliver vaginally just to end up with an emergency c-section. Idk. Something about it being planned and somewhat predictable helps put my mind at ease a bit.

What are your experiences?

... Read moreMany expectant mothers experience anxiety about labor, leading them to consider options like elective cesarean sections. Understanding the implications of this decision is crucial. Elective C-sections are often seen as a way to avoid the unpredictability of labor and potential emergency procedures. Studies suggest that planned cesareans can be beneficial for women with specific medical conditions or anxieties around childbirth. It's important to discuss your feelings and choices with your healthcare provider, as they can offer personalized advice based on your health history. Additionally, gathering insights from other mothers can provide reassurance. They may share their journeys, including the challenges and rewards of both cesarean and vaginal deliveries. Ultimately, your choice should prioritize both your mental well-being and the health of your baby. Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to childbirth, and what feels right for you is valid.

Yes. There are soo many more risks with a c section. So much so that drs often will try to talk you out of it. Our bodies were essentially made for child birth. Yes sometimes a c section is needed but I wouldn’t dare get one intentionally. And just bc your mom had a rough labor doesn’t mean you will at all!

How To stay calm during you c-section 🌸
With my first born I had a birth plan. I was totally against a c-section given my age, 19, and not wanting to “mess up” my body. When things went south while in labor, I knew a c-section was our best bet. Everything was so chaotic, scary, bright, loud, and all I could do was tell myself to stay. ca
