I have only had one brief crochet lesson when I was a child and taught myself with books from the library as I did not have money to buy a book. I bought one crochet hook. It probably cost about 15 cents at the time. It was a Boye aluminum tapered hook. When I was older I bought a set of these and still have it.
Today there are so many wonderful places online where you can learn to crochet for the cost of yarn and a hook.
But if you like to have a book in your hand, this has all the basic information you need to get started.
