Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Turned 20 ✨

You don’t have to have your whole life figured out by 20 🌙

Some people will outgrow you. Some dreams will change. Some heartbreaks will teach you more than love ever could. Healing takes longer than expected, growth happens quietly, and protecting your peace becomes more important than proving yourself to everyone else.

I wish someone told me that slowing down isn’t failure. That not everyone deserves access to your energy. That your younger self would be proud of how far you’ve come, even if you still feel lost sometimes ✨

This is for the girls learning life as they go, healing in silence, and becoming stronger through every season 🤍 Save this post if you needed the reminder.

... Read moreReflecting on my own journey through my twenties, I completely relate to the feelings of uncertainty and pressure shared in this post. One thing I learned the hard way is that life is not a sprint but a marathon. There’s immense value in taking your time to explore your passions and heal from past wounds. For example, I once felt guilty for not having a clear career goal right after high school, but embracing the idea that "life is not a race" helped me reduce anxiety and focus on small consistent steps toward what truly makes me happy. Another crucial lesson is the importance of protecting your peace more than seeking approval from others. Early in my twenties, I often said 'yes' to invitations and favors that drained my energy because I feared missing out or being disliked. Over time, I realized setting boundaries and prioritizing my mental well-being fostered healthier relationships and internal peace. Also, the concept that your future self is rooting for you is profoundly motivating. When I faced setbacks or self-doubt, reminding myself that every challenge shapes a stronger version of me helped me persevere. I found journaling helpful here—documenting small wins and lessons learned increased my confidence in the process. Outgrowing people and places is a natural part of growth too. What worked or felt right at 18 might no longer serve you at 25, and that's perfectly fine. Embracing change gracefully rather than resisting it can open new doors and opportunities. Finally, taking care of your mind directly impacts your body’s health. I started embedding mindfulness practices and regular exercise into my routine, which improved not just my physical well-being but my focus and emotional balance. This advice is powerful for anyone navigating their early adult years. Remember, healing often happens quietly behind the scenes, and growth is continuous. To anyone feeling lost or overwhelmed, know that your younger self would be proud of your resilience and commitment to becoming your best self.
