Abraham is old, the promise is still unfolding, and his one big assignment before he goes is making sure Isaac has the right wife. So he calls his most trusted servant, makes him swear an oath, and sends him on a journey with zero GPS and a whole lot of faith.
What I love about this opening is how normal it looks on the outside. A servant. Camels. A long trip. But underneath all of it is a man trusting that the God who kept every other promise is going to show up in this one too.
And then there’s the servant, who doesn’t even get named here and he is honestly one of the most underrated characters in Genesis. He takes his assignment seriously. He prays before he panics. Before he even knows how this is going to work out, he’s already talking to God about it.
Reading about Abraham’s servant and his mission to find Isaac’s wife provides more than just a historical or biblical tale; it offers timeless lessons on faith, trust, and commitment.
