3 lessons I’ve learned in College! 📚

Hey y’all 👋🏾

Here are just 3 of many lessons I have learned in college:

1.) make as many connections as you can! these connections will be a big help during and after college…it’s not what you know but WHO you know!

2.) take advantage of those student discounts to as many places as you can to help save money!

3. friends will come & go but the friends you keep will be there for life! 🫶🏾

What are some things you’ve learned?

... Read moreHey everyone! College is truly a wild ride, and while textbooks teach you a lot, some of the most invaluable lessons come from everyday experiences. Beyond the three quick tips I shared earlier, I wanted to dive deeper into some real talk about what I wish I knew before college – the kind of insights that truly shape your experience and set you up for success, both during and in your post-college life. First, let's talk more about connections. It's not just about knowing people; it's about building a genuine network. Think about joining clubs, volunteering for campus events, or even just striking up conversations with classmates. These aren't just social interactions; they can lead to mentorships, internship opportunities, or even future career paths. I remember hesitating to approach a professor after a lecture, but when I finally did, it opened doors to a research project I never thought I'd be part of. These connections aren't just for now; they're the foundation for your post college life, offering support and opportunities long after graduation. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there – everyone's looking to connect in some way. Next, those student discounts? Seriously, use them! It’s incredible how much money you can save if you just remember to ask or check online. Beyond the obvious places like software and streaming services, explore local businesses around your campus. Many restaurants, boutiques, and even gyms offer student pricing. I once saved a significant amount on a train ticket just by flashing my student ID, which made a huge difference on my tight budget. Once you're out of college, that's no longer an option, so make the most of it now. It’s not just about saving money; it’s a brilliant way to practice financial literacy and make your hard-earned cash go further. Finally, the friendship journey in college is unique. As a freshman, it feels like everyone is looking for friends, and it's easy to make acquaintances. But what I've learned is that not every "friend" you make freshman year will stay. And that's perfectly okay! People grow, interests change, and priorities shift. The key is to cherish the genuine connections and understand that quality trumps quantity. I found my closest friends through shared passions in a student organization, not just random dorm assignments. It's about finding your tribe, the people who truly support you, challenge you, and stick with you through thick and thin. Don't be afraid to let go of relationships that no longer serve you, and focus on nurturing those that truly uplift you. Beyond these, remember to prioritize self-care. College can be incredibly demanding, and it's easy to burn out. Find what helps you recharge, whether it’s a walk in nature, a creative hobby, or simply quiet time. And don't be afraid to ask for help – whether it's academic support, mental health counseling, or just advice from an upperclassman. Everyone needs support sometimes, and college campuses are usually packed with resources. Embracing these lessons made my college experience so much richer, and I truly hope they help you too!

I wish I had saved my college id, because I could have used it for discounts since it didn't have dates on it, I think I would have been able to use it at least while Inwas still fresh out of college

Lessons I’ve Learned In My 40s
Honestly… nobody warned me how good it would feel over here. Your 40s don’t always look like a glow-up or a comeback. Sometimes, they’re quieter than that. It looks like saying no without explaining. Protecting your peace like it’s a full-time job. Letting God lead instead of forcing doors
