New milestone: 500k unlocked!

Broke the 400k milestone in mid Jan and happy to break the 500k in May, 4 months later (+21k capital in between).

Could’ve been even more if not for my poor decisions, fk me. Lesson learnt: do not sell cc on stocks you want to own long term.

Praying for some corrections soon to minimise my losses lol. Regrets much but gotta move on.

Throughout this journey, I experienced both triumph and regret, especially regarding stock options and selling covered calls (cc) on stocks I intended to keep long term. This taught me an important lesson: patience and a long-term vision can often outweigh short-term gains. Looking closely at the monthly P&L in SGD (+23.19K with a 4.84% return in May alone) and the Sharpe ratio of 3.25, it highlights relatively good risk-adjusted returns. However, the max drawdown of -13.68% serves as a reminder of market volatility’s inevitable impact. I found that praying for market corrections wasn't just wishful thinking but a strategic hope to optimize entry points and minimize losses. Reflecting on the trade orders and portfolio holdings, carefully analyzing option details, and learning from losses like the -10,074.14 SGD in option premium underscores the importance of risk management. For anyone aiming to grow a portfolio to half a million and beyond, the key takeaway is clear: develop a disciplined strategy, avoid impulsive sales of stocks with long-term potential, and be prepared for fluctuations. In sharing this personal investing story, I hope to encourage fellow investors to embrace milestones as markers of progress, learn from mistakes without dwelling on regrets, and continue to build and adjust their investment strategies with resilience and foresight.
