Maybe being single isn’t the problem

I think a lot of us were taught to see being single as a problem.

But what if it just means you’re not willing to force something that doesn’t feel right?

There’s strength in that… even if it doesn’t always feel like it.

3 days agoEdited to

... Read moreIn today’s society, the pressure to be in a relationship can feel overwhelming, especially when many are taught to view being single as a negative state. However, embracing singleness can be a powerful act of self-awareness and respect for one’s own emotional boundaries. From personal experience, I've found that being single allows me to focus on personal growth, explore my interests freely, and build a solid sense of independence. There’s a unique strength in choosing not to settle or rush into a relationship just because of societal expectations. Furthermore, being single provides the space to heal from past experiences and truly understand what one values in a partner and in life. It’s a journey of self-discovery that builds resilience and confidence. Often, people who embrace singleness report feeling more in tune with their needs and more prepared to enter a healthy relationship when the time is right. Rejecting the idea that singleness is a problem helps reduce unnecessary stress and feelings of inadequacy. It encourages a mindset that values quality over conformity. When you’re not forcing connections that don’t feel genuine, you’re honoring your emotional health and paving the way for more meaningful future relationships. Remember, strength isn’t always about having a partner; sometimes, it’s about having the courage to stand on your own and wait for what truly aligns with your values and happiness.

With ADHD, it's easy to feel like the problem is with you and YOUR brain...and that it's all up to you to manage "normal life" like "everyone else can." Other times I think: aren't we actually all just a little burnt out from trying to be “on” all the time? Keeping u
