I’ve been wanting a traveler’s notebook for a while, so today I’m attempting to make 3 handmade leather ones from scratch.

1x Passport

Just leather, elastic, grommets, and a little patience.

There’s something really special about making something with your hands that will eventually hold your thoughts, plans, prayers, and memories.

Creating your own traveler’s notebooks is such a rewarding creative hobby, and I can share from experience how gratifying it feels to use something handmade daily. I measured carefully to make different sizes like A5 and passport, which are perfect for various uses: the larger size for detailed journaling and the smaller one to carry on-the-go. Patience truly matters in this process; punching holes accurately and threading the elastic to create replaceable notebook inserts let me customize my journals exactly how I wanted. One special aspect is the personal touch added by handmade craftsmanship—knowing these notebooks will soon hold not only my plans and ideas but cherished memories and prayers. Every scratch or mark on the leather adds character to the notebook as it ages, making it uniquely mine. Also, working on these notebooks brings a calming, mindful experience.
